Loving wife of Mike, mother of Alison and Andrew. Kate’s parents are Robert and Joanne Lane of Lyndhurst, Ohio. Her siblings are Robert, Barbara, and Susan. Her mother-in-law is Virginia Tyler of Attica, Indiana. Kate is the sister-in-law of Rosa, Jim, and Becky. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Kate’s biggest passions were her family and travel. She loved nothing as much as experiencing new places and cultures with her husband and children. Kate was an Assistant Professor of Management at Oakland University. She received her PH.D in business from Florida Atlantic University, her Masters from the University of South Florida and her Bachelors from Earlham College. She made her academic home the School of Business Administration at Oakland University, and had worked as a visiting scholar at the Vienna University of Technology in Austria and the University for Business and Technology in Pristina, Kosovo. She actively participated in many aspects of university life and was a mentor through both the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and the University SAFE Ally Program. She especially enjoyed the international aspect of teaching and was able to travel with students to both India and China over the past several years. She was known for a variety of areas that covered performance appraisal, organizational change and international aspects of teaching and management and had published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Management Education, and Human Resource Management Journal among others. Her inquisitive mind and fine sense of humor were valued by all that she touched in her life. Funeral service Thursday, August 23, 2007, 11:00 A.M. with an instate of 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, 2512 Joslyn Ct., Lake Orion. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-8 PM at the Modetz Funeral Home, 100 E. Silverbell, Orion. Suggested memorials to the family for a future memorial at Oakland University.
